Climate Ready At Hong Kong?
Graduated from University of Michigan, USA for Architectural Study with further study on Sustainable and Environmental Design in the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Yvonne Ieong was the founding Director of Y.I. & Associates Limited in 2003. Prior to setting up her practice, she had worked for Dennis Lau & Ng Chun Man Architects, amongst other renowned firms. Yvonne is a registered Architect in Hong Kong, Macau and Guongdong Province of China, and an experienced Interior Designer. She is a BEAM Pro and Member of Green Building Faculty on Material Aspect and Site Aspect, chairing the Material Aspect Panel for Technical Review Committee (2017) in BEAM Society Limited. At present, she is also a Director of BEAM Society Limited (2017-2019).
Yvonne currently serves as a Nominated Committee Member of the Hong Kong Environmental Campaign Committee under the Environmental Protection Department, member of China Green Building Council; Co-opted member of Hong Kong Professional Green Building Council, and Member of Environmental and Sustainable Development Committee in Hong Kong Institute of Architects. In between 2014 to 2015, she served as a pro-bono Director for the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC), in participation with the steering work then for BEAM Plus EB Revamp, BEAM Plus Interiors v.1; BEAM Affiliate Roll out, HK Green School Guideline and Green School Competitions.
Yvonne has moderated in the Macau International Environmental Co-operation Forum and also participated in the Sustainable Urban Planning Study in Architects Association of Macau. Her principles continued in her dedication to practice sustainable initiatives through her projects. Her Green Office interior design for HKGBC Headquarter in 2011 and office interior for CC Wu Office in 2016 had gained several green Awards in Hong Kong and Singapore.
Y.I. & ASSOCIATES LTD. has done various building alternations and retrofit projects — from offices, residential, hospitality, institutional buildings, shopping arcade and even conservation works. Amongst the awards received are Green Leadership Award, FuturArc 2012 Merit Award, and Green Building Award 2012 for the Hong Kong Green Building Council HQ; Office Design - MERIT AWARD, Green Building Award 2012 for the CC Wu Office, Wan Chai, Hong Kong; and First Runner Up for the 4th Macau Pavilion in the ICF Design Competition 2008.
